Position Overview
Context: As part of a long running relationship with WHO, UNICEF & the Gates Foundation, Bluesquare has been contracted to help review the whole Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) Budgeting tool.
This initiative manages approximately $1.5 billion in funding from various donors, allocated to support diverse activities led by WHO and UNICEF globally. Assisting both organizations in this process involves automating certain workflows, optimizing others, and streamlining manual tasks through a user-friendly interface to make sure every single dollar available is used in the best way.
To make this a success we’re working in close collaboration with the teams at both WHO and UNICEF.
Job position: We are looking for an autonomous full stack web developer to lead the development of this new project in collaboration with our project lead (which doubles as a data scientist).
While you’ll be able to rely on the whole Bluesquare development team for help and support, you’ll be the main and initially sole developer on the project – so we need someone able to work autonomously from back to front (we do have a small ops team that will help with all deployment related aspects).
As the project evolves and more developers join, you’ll help them get onboard and organize the work.
The project is new and independent of most of Bluesquare’s products so you’ll have a good amount of autonomy on the technical side. We do want to stay on technologies known in the team, which means mostly Postgresql/Django/React (TypeScript).
While the project is mostly about an accounting ledger, we’ll need to propose an efficient and innovative UI in order to make the work of the stakeholder as easy as possible.
Start date: As soon as possible
Location: Brussels. You will eventually be expected to travel to either New York (Unicef) or Geneva (WHO) to meet customers.
Team: Bluesquare is a horizontal company with more than 70 team members in multiple countries. While your main colleagues are going to be on the GPEI project, you’ll be part of the development team (around 20 developers) for any support you need. We value ownership, autonomy, flexibility, communication and teamwork.
