This move has ensured that all health care providers (all public, most faith-based, some private) are surveyed quarterly to externally assess service availability and quality of care. To aid Benin\u2019s government, Bluesquare has been providing strategic support to their<a class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" href=\"http:\/\/frontoffice.bj.bluesquare.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> RBF data system.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"8f1e\">Constantly working to improve our data systems, in September 2016, Bluesquare connected the RBF platform to DHIS2. We furthermore managed the full migration of all RBF data collection to mobile devices through the use of <a class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bluesquare.org\/services\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Data Collect<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"f9ee\">Next, in November, we piloted RBF quality of care data collection in 50 health care facilities across Benin. This <a class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/drive\/folders\/0B3uJYvEQ_riFNGhpVEJWWk5GVnM?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">quality of care measurement<\/a> was carried out by a mix of district teams and external agencies contracted by the government. Through this process, the Ministry of Health was able to start collecting granular data on routine service availability and readiness that have been externally verified, and quality of care data. Through Bluesquare Data Collect app, all indicators in Benin\u2019s quality of care checklist are now digitized. Moreover, they can easily be sent to both <a class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" href=\"http:\/\/www.beninfbr.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">OpenRBF <\/a>for payment, and to the national <a class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" href=\"https:\/\/dhis-bj.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">DHIS2 platform<\/a> for monitoring and evaluation purposes. Starting in January 2017, this digitization will be scaled up to the entire country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"0abd\">This digitization process will generate data of high value for any program interested in routine service availability and readiness. For example, the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) program will be able to monitor vaccine stockouts, control how cold chains and immunization practices are operating in every health care facility, every quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"80e5\" class=\"wp-block-image graf graf--figure graf--layoutOutsetLeft graf-after--p\"><figure class=\"alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-images-1.medium.com\/max\/1080\/0*R6f2PJwtlVaK3jdh.\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--figure wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"27b1\">This screenshot shows the immunization dimension of the quality of care evaluation. By using mo<span class=\"markup--quote markup--p-quote is-other\">bile devices, the granular data of this checklist can now b<\/span>e collected and shared with the DHIS2 platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"6171\">The data is then made available to the EPI program through the DHIS2 platform. This way, anyone can track vaccine stockouts in the health care facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"b859\">Follow our blog for updates on the progress of the scale-up.
