We produce physical accessibility analyses that show how long it takes populations to reach health services, identify who is covered by care, and model where new facilities or infrastructure improvements would have the greatest impact.
Our analyses apply the AccessMod methodology – a WHO-led open-source framework for modeling travel time to health facilities, used in dozens of countries and backed by extensive peer-reviewed research. As the developers of AccessMod’s cloud-based platform (AccessMod NG), Bluesquare has deep expertise in the underlying algorithms and can deploy them at scale through automated OpenHEXA pipelines.
We combine geolocated health facility data, high-resolution population grids, elevation models, transport networks, and land-cover layers to build a realistic model of how people move through the landscape to reach health services. The result is a detailed travel-time surface covering the entire study area, which we then overlay with population data to extract population coverage metrics.
