Learn more about OpenHEXA

OpenHEXA is an open-source data integration and analysis platform built for public health teams. It connects heterogeneous data sources (DHIS2, ODK, LMIS, Excel, climate datasets) into a single collaborative workspace where data scientists can build, automate, and share data pipelines and analytical products.

Recognized as a Digital Public Good and a DHIS2 Technology Partner, OpenHEXA is deployed by Ministries of Health, international agencies, and research institutions in more than 20 countries.

OpenHEXA is AI-ready

OpenHEXA integrates artificial intelligence directly into the data workflow — not as an add-on, but as a native capability available to every team.

AI assistant for pipeline development

Data teams can describe their processing needs in plain language and immediately receive a functional, fully owned data pipeline. The assistant acts as a continuous co-pilot alongside the code editor — suggesting parameters, explaining its choices, and presenting every modification as a reviewable diff before it is applied. Code runs in the same secure, containerized environment as any hand-written script.

AI assistant for web apps

Teams can turn their data into interactive web applications: dashboards, reports, and lightweight data tools hosted directly in the workspace. An AI assistant sits alongside the code editor and builds the app from a plain-language description, drawing on the datasets, files, and pipeline outputs already available. Every change is versioned and published only when the team is ready, so nothing goes live before it is reviewed. Each app receives scoped API access to workspace assets, showing exactly the data its users are cleared to see, and the finished result is fully owned by the team.

Model Context Protocol (MCP) server

The OpenHEXA MCP server connects major AI assistants (including Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini) directly to your workspaces, datasets, and pipelines. Teams can browse data, review pipeline runs, and work with files through natural language, without manual exports. Authentication is OAuth-based: the AI sees exactly what you see, and nothing more. Your organization’s access controls and data governance policies remain fully in effect.

Data sovereignty, by design

OpenHEXA is open source. Ministries and national institutions own their data, their code, and their infrastructure — with no vendor lock-in. The platform can be deployed on cloud infrastructure hosted in Europe or on-premise, within a Ministry’s own servers, to meet national data residency requirements.

This architecture makes OpenHEXA a trusted foundation for national health information systems — and a platform where AI-assisted analysis can be adopted without compromising institutional control over sensitive health data.
